SNORKELING SILFRA FISSURE (Thingvellir National Park, Iceland)

SILFRA COVER

Easily one of the greatest times in the water I have ever had!! Spent the morning with DIVE.IS in the Silfra Fissure. I wanted to SCUBA but it was a little too expensive, being that I’m traveling full time so I elected to do the 45min snorkeling trip.

The Silfra fissure is a crack between the North American and Eurasian continents, meaning that you dive or snorkel right where the continental plates meet and drift apart about 2cm per year. The visibility in the water is unparalleled at about 100 meters making it one of the most amazing dives/snorkels I have ever done. If you are in Iceland you have to do this. it’s a little pricey but well worth it. The only place in the world where you can swim in between two Continental Plates.
